Deemed by area leaders as the "City on the Rise", the community of Rogersville is the fastest growing municipality west of Springfield. United by the expansive Logan-Rogersville School District, Rogersville is situated on the corner of Christian, Webster and Greene counties making this community a crossroad destination. With the major changes coming from the Missouri Department of Transportation along US Highway 60 and pending overpass, the Rogersville area is destined to grow even more! New upscale subdivisions such as LeaBrooke and Sawyer Creek are attracting families to make their homes in the Rogersville area and new businesses are popping up along this east of Springfield connecting corridor. Hometown Furniture is a contemporary furniture store that also features the Garden Tea Room for a unique dining experience. The Red Rock Coffee Company is the newest coffee shop and bakery service to open its doors, along with longtime eateries Sky Dragon and Skinner's BBQ. The award winning Logan-Rogersville School District is considered by many the best in the area. In addition, the district has a special program for autistic children that has served as a model for other schools throughout the state. Growth in the district has been phenomenal with a 90 percent increase during the past decade. On the higher education level, there are plans underway to offer satellite classes through Ozarks Technical College locally in Rogersville. The weekends are revved up around Rogersville as racers from throughout a four state area head to Rogersville for competition at the Ozark International Raceway. This track is slowly evolving into one of the top raceways in the southern Missouri. The largest settlement in this area in the mid 1800's was Henderson with a population of about 300. Located 16 miles east of Springfield in a valley by a stream and on the main highway, it was a perfect place for a town. In 1882, the Kansas City and Memphis Railroad came through two miles to the south. It became known that a depot was to be erected by the railroad. A young physician by the name of Dr. Isaac Rogers, agreed to donate $50 to defray the expense of surveying, laying out lots, and building streets if the settlement was named in his honor. The first postmaster was appointed in September 1882. In 1904, five rural carriers began delivering the mail by horse and buggy. By then the population of Rogersville had grown to 450. School was first held about 1885. The newspaper, The Rogersville Record, obtained a “second-class matter permit” at the post office in October 1915. A community church, whichhoused a lodge hall on the second story, was built in 1885. The first bank opened in 1890, but
failed during the Depression. The Citizens Bank of Rogersville was chartered in 1908 and remains in operation today. Rogersville was incorporated as a village in 1916. Some street lights were operating as early as 1927. In 1932, Highway 60 was paved through town and progress came to the area.
